mad men on the mind

i've been thinking about mad men today
& i just wish the next season would start sooner!

but since i'm forced to wait...
i can admire this don-inspired pillow from regan's brain.

also, mad men vs. bewitched...kinda comical.

i need one of these ridiculously
awesome hoodies from mungocrafts.

networked blogs

does anyone use the networked blogs application on facebook?
i've found a few of you on there, but i'd love to follow more of your blogs so please send me a link if you've got your own page!

i set up a page a while back & sort of forgot about it.
do you think these sort of things are worth having?

biggie can't you see?

please update your links!

i've noticed that many of you still have quirkology links up.
i would be eternally grateful to you if you changed those to the lbeau room!

thanks so much!

PS you're also more than welcome to follow &/or link to
my tumblr as well.
*grin*

bees are terrific

my love for honey bees has been steadily growing.
i love drawing them. i love looking at them.
i love eating their honey.

classy

i love them.
cheers, amy santoferraro. you're brilliant.

the whitening process

right about this time last year, i became obsessed with white hair.
& i have finally decided to attempt it.

i'll keep this post updated with the process. wish me luck!
saying goodbye to my naturally dark, dark hair!

after dye #1...i'm a strawberry blonde.

update 2-24-10:
i've bleached it more times than i should & it's still not quite there.
one more bleach & a toner...& if it still isn't white,
i'm giving up. sigh.

hearts & heepwahs

as many of you know, i work for camp ondessonk, a not-for-profit youth camp in the shawnee national forest. best.job.ever.

this valentine's day, i spent the evening playing
awesome & ridiculous games with local kids.

hearts & heepwahs is basically a parent's night out...
(a chance for moms & dads to have some quality alone time)
& it's a blast. as i'm sure you can tell from the photos.

know any kids that would love to spend a week at camp?!
PS there's also a 3 day family camp...you're never too old!

PPS heepwah is a word we use at camp that basically translates
into "all things good" but also doubles as "congratulations!" or "good job!"

one day deal!

if you're on the market for a light-weight netbook...

you should check out woot!
$240 for the netbook, mouse, headphones, & a 5-port usb hub.
sounds like an awesome deal to me.

punctuation shelf

this appeals to me in so many ways.

don't ya just love it?

getting a roll of film developed is one of my very favorite things.
i love the excitement & anticipation of waiting to see how each photo will turn out. & on top of that...i can just never really remember what's on the roll! a single roll of film may last me a couple months & then who knows how long it will be before i can get it developed.

the photo here is a shot of my friend beth, taken in front of the st. louis art museum. ...in december? if you look really closely at her glasses, you can see me in one lens & our friend aj in the other. i've finally got the prints back & this was my favorite from the roll.

fuji vs pola

i love my polaroid dearly...but i'm down to my last pack of film
& the cheapest i've seen on amazon lately is $40 for one pack. sigh.

i haven't quite come to terms with the smaller, credit card-sized photos...but at $20 for a twin pack, the fuji instax mini is starting to look mighty fine.

anybody have some input? do you have the fuji mini? do you like it? i need some encouragement before i lovingly put my pola on the shelf.

update: i did it. i'll let you know how it goes when my fuji comes in the mail!

BIG news!

today is this blog's 2nd birthday
...& it's high time for some changes!

some time ago it came to my attention that "quirkology" is not just some clever word that i made up for my humble little blog...in fact, it's a pretty interesting field of study led by dr. richard wiseman.

i've been preparing to take the plunge & open an etsy shop (soon! but not yet) & i certainly can't be using a name that someone else owns...

thus, the lbeau room is born!
(lbeau is an abbreviation of my first & last name...& since it's pronounced elbow i like to think i'm incredibly clever...though i do owe credit to my good friend aj for suggesting the 'room' portion of the title. thanks aj!)

so you'll be noticing a few changes around here. please bear with me as i go through the process of changing names & my url & such. & please, please remember to update your links with the new address: http://www.thelbeauroomblog.com (thanks!).

some of you have been reading since the beginning & i hope you know how much i appreciate your comments & interests in what i've got to share. thanks for making it a fun two years!

i may add my own tomorrow if i start feeling bold.
